Throughout the marine insurance industry there is currently a push for digitization of everything from work processes to data handling. In the most extreme cases, paper mail is still used. In order to keep up with this industry-wide change, Gard has identified several critical systems that will need to be replaced in the next few years. In order to minimize risk during these system implementation projects, Gard has set out to document all internal system dependencies.
Previous attempts with other tools have proven unsatisfactory, but the flexibility of the Ardoq platform has allowed Gard’s integrations team to quickly produce live documentation that visualizes data flows and integrations, while at the same time storing critical information like data formats in an easily searchable structure.
Through explorable visualizations, the documentation produced is used by both system owners (developers and architects) and business analysts when planning and executing system implementations. Having this single source of up-to-date documentation allows Gard to confidently proceed with integration projects. In the future, Gard plans to transfer all existing paper-based documentation to Ardoq.
